Cargo transshipment via Turkish ports in 1Q2020 revealed

Cargo transshipment through Turkish ports amounted to 94.6 million tons from January through March 2020, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, during the reporting period the volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 7.4 million tons from January through March 2020.

"The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 3.9 million tons, while the cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 83.1 million tons from January through March 2020," the ministry said.

Over the reporting period, 18.4 million tons of cargo was transited through the ports of Turkey.

The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports amounted to 32.1 million tons in March 2020.

The volume of cargo handled by ships under flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 2.8 million tons in March 2020.

In the reporting month, the volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 1.3 million tons, while cargo transshipment by ships under the flags of other countries stood at 27.9 million tons.

Due to the ministry, 5.9 million tons of cargo was transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in March 2020.
