Syrian President Bashar al-Assad replaced five governors Wednesday, the state-run SANA news agency said.
The new governors are appointed to the coastal cities of Latakia and Tartous, eastern Deir al-Zour, northern Hasaka and the central province of Homs, Xinhua reported.
The reason behind the replacement was not immediately clear, but the embattled leader has replaced many governors over the year- long crisis.
