Suicide attack kills at lest nine in northern Iraq
At least nine people were killed late Monday when a suicide bomber blew up his car in Iraq's northern city of Mosul, the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) reported.
A suicide bomber drove his car which was packed with explosives into a military checkpoint in the Mutahna area in Mosul, 390 km north of Baghdad, the report said.
Five soldiers were among the dead and 18 others were wounded in the blast, DPA reported.
The blast is the latest in a wave of unrest that coincided with rallies in mainly Sunni areas calling for the ouster of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, a Shiite Muslim.
