Eight people were killed on Tuesday in attacks in Iraq's central Diyala province, north of the capital Baghdad, security officials said, dpa reported.
In the town of Jalula, near the Iranian border, gunmen attacked police, prompting a firefight in which three of the gunmen and two policemen were killed.
A policeman and eight of the gunmen were also injured in the incident, officials said.
In Kanaan, south-east of the provincial capital Baquba, three civilians were killed and seven injured when a series of bombs exploded.
