Israeli rightists' protest in Arab village triggers clashes

Three busloads of extreme right- wing Israeli activists are holding an annual protest march through an Arab village in the Galilee, calling for the Islamic Movement to be outlawed in Israel, Xinhua reported.

Cameras on the scene are showing scenes of horseback-mounted police milling among the rioters, and carrying out arrests of rock- throwers, as smoke from burning tires and clouds of tear gas waft over the area.

Some 1,500 police and mounted forces clad in riot gear are deployed in the Arab village, Um el Fahm, and some skirmishes with local Israeli Arab residents opposing the march are being reported by Israeli Army radio.
