Austrian President Heinz Fischer and his wife Margit arrived in the Jordanian capital Amman Sunday for a three-day official visit upon an invitation from King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, a royal court statement said, according to dpa.

During his stay in the country, Fischer is scheduled to have talks with King Abdullah on the latest developments in the Middle East and efforts under way to establish peace and stability in the region, the statement added.

Means of boosting bilateral ties particularly in the economic sphere are expected to top the agenda of discussions between the two leaders, officials said.
