Belarus and Poland will sign the agreement on cooperation of courts of both the countries in rendering the mutual legal assistance, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Justice Ministry.

"On February 13, 2009 the Belarusian Justice Ministry, the Belarusian Supreme Court, the Belarusian Supreme Economic Court and the Polish Ministry of Justice will sign the agreement on cooperation of the Belarusian and Polish courts in rendering the legal assistance. The draft agreement was prepared and signed during the consultations held in Warsaw on October 28-29, 2009," BelTA learnt from the press service.

The agreement has been developed in line with the Belarusian-Polish treaty on legal assistance and legal relations concerning the civic, family, labour and criminal cases. The treaty was signed in Minsk on October 26, 1994. The document foresees the decentralization of the order of legal assistance rendering by the courts of both the countries.

At present, the cooperation of the Belarusian and Polish courts is carried out via the central bodies that demands extra charges and delays the consideration of cases.

The new agreement is expected to reduce the terms of rendering the legal assistance by the Belarusian and Polish courts significantly.
