German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on Wednesday for the observance of human rights in every country in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), DPA reported.
"Human rights guarantees, such as democracy and freedom of expression and media, must be fully implemented in all member states," Merkel said at the summit of the OSCE in the Kazakh capital Astana.
Merkel also said that the organization, which has 56 members in Europe and Central Asia, needs to do more "to truly become a cooperative forum for security on the basis of democracy and freedom."
