Hurricane Ingrid forms in Gulf of Mexico
The US National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, said Saturday tropical storm Ingrid has become a hurricane and is headed toward the east coast of Mexico, dpa reported.
Ingrid is expected to make landfall on Monday. A hurricane warning was posted for a stretch of the coast between Cabo Rojo and La Pesca.
The hurricane centre said Ingrid's winds had reached 120 kilometres per hour. The storm is expected to get stronger and carry heavy rain. Ingrid is the second hurricane of the Atlantic storm season.
