Volume of cargo transshipment from Portugal via Turkish ports disclosed

Some 734,817 tons of cargo were transshipped from Portugal via the Turkish ports from January through April 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on June 1.

Some 14,480 tons of cargo were transshipped from Portugal via Turkish ports by ships flying the Turkish flag, while 686,056 tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the flags of other countries from January through April 2020.

According to the ministry, 34,281 tons of cargo were transshipped by ships flying the Portuguese flag.

During the reporting period, 309,281 tons of cargo were transited from Portugal through the Turkish ports.

More than 123.4 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the Turkish ports during the reporting period. Meanwhile, the volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag surpassed 9.6 million tons.

Some 4.9 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries, while the cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 108.8 million tons from January through April 2020.

Over 24.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period.

More than 28.8 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the Turkish ports in April 2020.

Some 2.2 million tons of cargo were transshipped by ships flying the Turkish flag, by ships flying their countries’ flags - 979,880 tons, and under the flags of other countries – 25.6 million tons.

Over 6.5 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in April 2020.
