Ministry discloses volume of cargo transported through Turkish Mersin port

Some 12.2 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish Mersin port from January through April 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, 786,493 tons of cargo were transported through the port by ships flying the flag of Turkey, 11.4 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.

"Some 391,124 tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish Mersin port from January through April 2021," the ministry said.

"Thus, 124.9 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021."

Around 9.8 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag through the local ports. About 115.1 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the flags of other countries through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021.

Moreover, 24.5 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period. In general, 33.8 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in April 2021.

Furthermore, 2.7 million tons of cargo were transported by the ships flying the Turkish flag in April 2021. At the same time, 31.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports by the ships flying the flags of other countries.

Thus, 6.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in April 2021.
