Turkey sees increase in cargo turnover of Gaziantep Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9

The cargo turnover of the Gaziantep Airport in northern Turkey amounted to 6,551 tons from January through June 2021, which is 9 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

During this period, the airport's cargo turnover on domestic flights amounted to 5,982 tons (an increase of 37 percent on annual basis), on international flights - 570 tons (a decrease of 66 percent).

“At the same time, passenger traffic at the airport amounted to 650,719 people, an increase of 4 percent. The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 634,668 people (an increase of 15 percent), on international - 16,051 people (a decrease of 78 percent),” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the number of flights performed by the airport during the reporting period reached 6,549, which is 7 percent more compared to the same period of last year. The number of flights performed on domestic lines was 6,352 (an increase of 15 percent), on international lines - 197 (a decrease of 69 percent).

From January through June 2021, the passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey amounted to over 40.2 million people, and the cargo turnover – 1.33 million tons.
