BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. Turkey's ports handled 495,987 tons of cargo from Germany in the first quarter of 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.
Ships under the Turkish flag delivered 10,580 tons of freight from Germany to domestic ports whilst ships flying the flags of other countries – 482,207 tons.
During this period, German-flagged vessels transported 3,200 tons of cargo to Turkish ports. From January through March 2022, Turkish ports handled 40,629 tons of transit cargo from Germany.
Turkey's ports transshipped 24.18 million tons of cargo in March 2022.
In the reporting period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Turkey through local ports amounted to 2.28 million tons, while cargo traffic by ships under the flags of other countries reached 31.89 million tons.
In addition, Turkish ports transshipped 6.67 million tons of transit cargo in March 2022.
According to the ministry, Turkish ports handled 98.6 million tons of cargo from January through March 2022.
In the reporting period, cargo transportation by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 6.9 million tons, while freight traffic by ships under the flags of other countries reached 91.68 million tons.
From January through March 2022, Turkish ports delivered 20.57 million tons of transit cargo.
Totally, Turkey transported 386.39 million tons of cargo in 2021 via its ports.
During the reporting period, freight transportation by ships under the flag of Turkey via domestic ports amounted to 29.9 million tons, whereas the cargo traffic by other countries' vessels reached 356.39 million tons.
Furthermore, Turkish ports transshipped 78 million tons of transit cargo in 2021.
