Roughly 18 medals of various coinage, including seven gold, were won by Azerbaijani gymnasts at the traditional international tournament "Miss Valentine 2011" in Tartu, Estonia, the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federationsaid.
The leader of the national team Alia Garayeva confirmed herhigh status. She won gold three times while performing the exercises with ahoop, a ball, mace. She ranked third while performing the exercise with aribbon.
Her teammate Anna Gurbanova ranked second twice with a hoop and a ribbon. Zeinab Javadli and SamiraMustafayeva ranked fifth with a ball and sixth witha hoop, respectively.
The two collective groupsof the countryalso preformed well. The main team includingAnastasia Prasolova, Jeyla Guliyeva, Jamila Huseynova,AelitaKhalafova,Sabina Abbasova and Stephanie Trayanova won silver with three ribbons / two hoops and bronze with five balls.
The other team, including Neftchi gymnasts Jala Garatova, Irada Ahadzade, MansuraMehdiyeva, Medina Hasanovaand Alia Pashayeva performed better in the second combination. They ranked second with 5 balls.
All the juniors,who participated in these competitions, returned with gold.
Thus, 13-year-old Gulsum Shafizade left herrivals behind while performing the exercises with the ribbon. She ranked second with a hoop. Leman Dadashlireceived "bronze" withmace.
Her 12-year-old namesake Leman Hajizade also won bronze withmaceand ball.
Thus, 11-year Rugiyye Sattarova performed with aropebest of all, 10-year-old Leili Ibrahimovaranked third in the exercise without an object. But 7-year old Lala Kramarenko won her first gold medal (without objectand the hoop).
Lala Yusifova,Aisha Mustafayeva,MansuraBagiyeva, Aynur Jabbarli, SiyanaVasileva and Ekaterina Prokopenko ranked fourth due to mistakes while performing the exercise with five ropes, head coach Mariana Vassilevasaid.
"However, this is our first start thisyear. I am very happy with all the gymnasts. All of them showed their new programs. Iamglad that they managed to make a good impression," she said.
