There is a great necessity for undertaking systematic measures aimed at maintaining the modern parameters of food security. Member of the permanent commission in parliament on economic problems Ali Masimov told Trend.

According to Masimov, a number of changes and supplements should be injected in the law on the Consumers rights protection. Unless drastic measures would be undertaken to tackle the problems of food security, society might confront serious problems in the future. There were no measures of this character undertaken in Azerbaijan. And country is turning into the export ground for the low quality goods. The problem of food security might be as well solved by increasing the local production. As it can more profitable to produce more ecologically clean produce in Azerbaijan than in other countries, said Masimov.

Special mechanisms have to be prepared and tougher sanctions undertaken. As applying symbolic financial sanctions to the low-quality goods producers did not yield any results. It is necessary to unite the efforts of the mass media and society in order to tackle the problem.
