NGO representatives discuss Azerbaijani-Turkish relations in Baku

A scientific practical conference on "Today and tomorrow of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations: the place and role of NGOs and think tanks in the development of these relations" has been held in Baku today.

Besides Azerbaijani MPs and the media representatives, head of the Turkish delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC PA), member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Ismail Safi and chairman of the Association of Eurasian Economic Relations, owner of the " Ekoeurasia" magazine Hikmet Eren arrived in Azerbaijan upon the invitation of the Public Association "Eurasian Institute of International Studies".

Chairwoman of the Public Association "Eurasian Institute of International Studies" Ganira Pashayeva said that while the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan are at a high level, the interaction between NGOs of the two countries is not satisfactory. The organizations of a public association of the two countries must expand the relations, implement joint projects and coordinate the cooperation.

She also stressed that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a common problem between the two countries. The role of the media and NGOs in preventing false claims about the "Armenian genocide" in Khojavend will be discussed together with Turkish MPs.

Turkish MP Ismail Safi stressed the power of public organizations' influence on the processes occurring in society and the world. The opportunities of Turkish and Azerbaijani NGOs are not fully used, he said.

Head of Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly, PA BSEC member Asaf Hajiyev spoke about the unity of Turkey and Azerbaijan. The MP also stressed that the Turkic morals and rich culture are the most important values.

Chairman of Public Association "Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh" Bayram Safarov said that the Azerbaijani and Turkish media and NGOs must convey truth about the Nagorno-Karabakh to the world community.
