Quakes occurred in the Azerbaijani regions are not related to the earthquake in Japan, and change in the earth's imaginary axis, head of the department of seismological and geodynamic investigations of Republican Seismological Service Center of ANAS, Doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences, Tahir Mammadov, told Trend.
Seismologists from various countries worldwide announced that the earth's imaginary axis displaced by 15 centimeters in connection with quake in Japan.

Mammadov said Azerbaijan and Japan are located in different tectonic zones, so there is no connection between earthquakes occurring in the far eastern country and underground tremors in Azerbaijan.

"About 800-900 insignificant similar tremors are recorded in the territory of Azerbaijan every year," said Mammadov.

Quakes occurred in several Azerbaijani regions.
The earthquake occurred at 11:52 in 40 km north-east of the Shirvan city , the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences' Republican Seismological Service told Trend. The earthquake, measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, was felt in Shirvan and Hajigabul at 3 points and in Sabirad at 2 points.
No causalities were reported. The quake occurred at 4.40 magnitude and depth of 26 km.
Another quake was recorded at 12:26 in 35 km north of the Shirvan city. The tremors were not felt. No causalities were reported
Another quake was recorded at 15:23 in the same territory. The tremors were not felt.
