Agricultural production in Tajikistan's Sughd grows

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, May 14. Agricultural production in the Sughd region of Tajikistan reached 1.718 billion somoni ($157.603 million) from January through April 2024, Trend reports.

According to the government of the region, the figure increased by 10 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

It's noted that the livestock sector contributed 1.685 billion somoni ($154.575 million) to this production, while crop production accounted for nearly 33 million somoni ($3.027 million), with growth rates of 10 and 31 percent, respectively.

In 2024, as per the approved sowing plan, spring sowing is set to be conducted on 173,835 hectares of the region.

According to the Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan, the value of agricultural production in Tajikistan from January through March 2024 amounted to 3.530 billion somoni ($324.130 million), which is 6.7 percent higher than in the same months of 2023.
