BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. The first flare gas was collected at the Gachsaran oil field in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad Provinces located in southwestern Iran on May 10, Director General of the Iranian Oil Ministry's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Department Mazahir Ansari said Trend reports.
According to him, Gulf Gas Processing Company Bid-Boland has conducted a 72-hour test at the Gachsaran refinery station using the first compressor. Currently, 6 million cubic feet (about 170,000 cubic meters) of gas is being collected daily by turning off the first flare.
Next week, the official said, the second flare will be turned off to get 12 million cub. feet (340,000 cub. meters) of gas.
Iran burns 50 million cubic meters of flared gas every day. It collects almost 20 million cubic meters of flare gas daily.
By March 20, 2026, Iran will have gathered all its flare gasses, earning $2 billion.
