BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 13. Construction of a factory for the production of equipment for drip irrigation is set to commence in Kyrgyzstan this summer, Trend reports.

The Turkish company, Akplas Plastik San. Ve Tic. A.S., will undertake this project, according to the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan. The corresponding memorandum was signed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, and the head of Akplas Plastik San. ve Tic. A.S., Hussein Akin.

Start-up costs for the manufacturing of drip irrigation equipment will be $10 million. It is expected to finish construction and open in eight months, and 10 hectares are needed for the factory building.

Bakyt Torobaev emphasized the need for efficient water usage due to climate change and stated that this system will be implemented in all regions of the country. If successful, the project will be granted national status in the field of water resources.

In turn, Hussein Akin expressed confidence that, with government support, the company will achieve short-term results and will also provide training for farmers.
