BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. Iran's internal gas transportation potential (for domestic consumption, consumption of thermal power plants, etc.) is 950 million cubic meters, Executive Director of Iran Gas Transportation Company Gholam-Abbas Hosseini said, Trend reports.
According to him, gas received from Iran's 22 gas processing plants, oil fields, and two underground storage facilities is transported throughout the country through the country's gas transportation network, the total length of which is 39,000 kilometers.
Hosseini noted that a total of 275 bcm of associated gas was transported in Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024). This was 1.5 percent more than a year earlier (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023). Although gas transportation across the country increased last year, Iran's gas consumption for residential operations decreased by 3 bcm. This was achieved due to steps taken to optimize gas consumption in the country.
To note, the 4-day 23rd International Exhibition of Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemicals kicked off in Tehran on May 8. The exhibition is attended by 1,700 local companies and 250 foreign companies.
Additionally, it should be noted that the main objective of Iran
Gas Transmission Company is to transport natural gas, ethane,
liquefied gas, gas condensate, or swap products within the
country.
This company has 10 operating zones in 10 provinces of Iran. This
company has more than 38,000 kilometers of pipelines, 88 gas
pressure stations, and 9 gas export and import terminals, and can
transport more than 280 bcm of gas annually.
