ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 14. Kazakhstan plans to build, repair, or reconstruct a record 12,000 kilometers of roads in the current road construction season, Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Transport.

Thus, the repair, construction, and reconstruction of 5,300 kilometers of roads in the republican network, and 4,200 kilometers of local roads will continue.

At the same time, the Ministry is implementing a new large-scale program for the average repair of roads with structural strengthening. Thus, priority is given to roads where repair work has not been carried out since their construction. This is 2,500 kilometers of additional transport links throughout the country.

As the Ministry noted, loan funds from international financial organizations will be attracted to carry out this work.

In addition, the main efforts will be aimed at completing the reconstruction of the main road corridors: Astana - Balkhash - Almaty, Taldykorgan - Ust-Kamenogorsk, Aktobe - Kandyagash and Atyrau - Astrakhan.

Moreover, the Ministry plans to begin work on the projects Kyzylorda-Zhezkazgan (section in the Ulytau region), Aktobe-Kyzylorda (sections Aktobe-Ulgaisyn, Kyzylorda-Saksaulsky), Karaganda-Zhezkazgan and Bypass of Saryagash city.

Meanwhile, 10,700 roadways of republican and local importance were repaired or built in Kazakhstan in 2023. According to the official data, 753 billion tenge (about $1.64 billion) are provided for these purposes, which is 14 percent more than last year.

Furthermore, today, 8 international highway corridors with a total length of about 13,000 km pass through the territory of Kazakhstan. Among them are Western Europe, Western China, the North and South, TRACECA, and others.
