BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. Annual inflation in Azerbaijan has declined below one percent, Trend reports.
The Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported that the consumer price index (CPI) was 100 percent in April 2024, down 1.8 percent for food, beverages, and tobacco products, up 0.9 percent for non-food items, and up 0.2 percent for paid public services.
"This April, the CPI decreased by 0.1 percent from the previous month, and from January through April, it was 0.7 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year.
The CPI for food, beverages, and tobacco products in April 2024 dropped by 0.4 percent from the previous month, and from January through April it decreased by 0.7 percent compared to the same period of last year.
The CPI for non-food items this April was 0.1 percent compared to the previous month, and from January through April, it grew by 1.3 percent year on year.
This April, the highest price increases for non-food items were observed in jewelry, cement, and timber.
Prices for other non-food items had no significant changes.
In April 2024, the CPI for paid public services was 0.1 percent higher versus the previous month, and from January through April, it rose by 2.4 percent compared to the same period of last year," the Statistics Committee added.
To note, the CPİ in Azerbaijan increased by 8.8 percent in 2023.
