ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 13. The Turkish Akplas company intends to implement an investment project for the production of modern irrigation systems for agriculture in the Kyzylorda region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
A project implementation agreement was achieved after the Turkish delegation visited Kazakhstan. They visited the Kyzylorda region, where they were presented with promising land plots.
During the visit, company representatives also held negotiations with local executive authorities on the implementation of the project.
The initial cost will be $10 million, and the medium-term cost will be $50 million. In the beginning, irrigation systems will produce 80,000 hectares annually. A 400,000-hectare capacity is planned in 5 years.
The project is expected to be operational in early 2025.
It is expected that the project will be put into operation at the beginning of 2025.
By 2030, Kazakhstan will build 20 water reservoirs and rebuild 15. At a Kazakhstan government meeting today, the draft concept for the development of the water resources management system for 2024–2030 was adopted.
Thus, to ensure the country’s water security, it is planned to build 20 new and reconstruct 15 existing reservoirs, as well as modernize more than 14,000 km of irrigation canals and hydraulic facilities.
Water resources will grow by 2.4 cubic kilometers, and transportation water losses will decrease from 50 percent to 25 percent. The proposed methods will boost irrigated land to 2.5 million hectares by 2030.
In addition, irrigation system and drip and sprinkler irrigation equipment subsidies would increase from 50 percent to 80 percent to encourage farmers to utilize water-saving technology.
It is expected that, thanks to this, the area of irrigated land with water-saving technologies will increase to 1.3 million hectares, about 2.1 cubic km of water will be saved, and agricultural yields will also significantly increase.
