Kazakhstan sees increase in passenger transportation in 4M2024

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 13. Over 549 million passengers were transported across all modes of transport in Kazakhstan from January through April 2024, Trend reports.

The country's Bureau of National Statistics' data shows that this is 8.4 percent more than in the same period in 2023.

At the same time, passenger turnover for the above period amounted to 24.4 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 11.1 percent more than from January through April 2023.

In addition, passenger turnover increased in Almaty (21 percent), Astana (18.8 percent) and Shymkent (8.4 percent) cities, Almaty (30 percent), Kostanay (23.9 percent), Mangistau (23.3 percent), Ulytau (22.9 percent), Zhambyl (21.6 percent), Kyzylorda (9.4 percent), Pavlodar (7.6 percent), Atyrau (6.3 percent), Turkistan (1.4 percent), and Akmola (1.1 percent) regions.

Meanwhile, over 1.579 billion passengers were transported across all modes of transport in Kazakhstan from January through December 2023. This is 8.3 percent more than in the same period in 2022. Passenger turnover for the above period amounted to 72.8 billion passenger kilometers, which is 10.3 percent more than from January through December 2022.

To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and are in operation in Kazakhstan, including 5 railways and 8 roads.

Furthermore, about $30 billion has been invested in the transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan over the past 10 years.

Moreover, in the next five years, at least 40 billion euros will be needed to implement major infrastructure projects in the field of transportation in Kazakhstan.
