Uzbekistan, Tashkent, July 11 / Trend D. Azizov /

The Agency for Press and Information of Uzbekistan together with the concerned state and private organizations elaborated a bill on "Protection of minors from information harmful to their physical and spiritual development", a representative of the agency told Trend on Thursday.

The interlocutor added that the document is aimed at combating the spread of printed, audio and video materials and electronic games that promote violence, drug abuse, pornography, and other harmful information.

The bill envisages the legal mechanisms for content categorization by age, placing special signs and limiting the broadcasting time of television and radio programs to protect children from harmful information.

"While protecting children from harmful information, Uzbekistan will fulfill its international obligations, in particular, will ensure executing the Articles 13, 17 and 34 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child," the interlocutor added.

The bill will be submitted to the government for expert assessments in the near future.

It will be submitted for consideration in the legislative (lower) chamber of the parliament by late 2013.
