Some Arab states of the Persian Gulf have been turned into depots for U.S. weapons, Major General Yahya Safavi said, Mehr news agency reported.

The new strategy of the U.S. in building a missile defense shield in the Persian Gulf's Arab states is based on securing Israel.

Another strategy of the U.S. is to regain billion of dollars it spends for buying oil from the Persian Gulf states.

Last year, Saudi Arabia bought some $30 billion worth of weapons from the U.S., he said, adding that in fact a number of the Persian Gulf Arab states have been turned into a place for storing U.S.-made weapons.

Safavi said that the U.S. missile defense shield could be a threat both for Iran and for Russia, as well.
