Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi arrived in Moscow at the head of a delegation on Monday to attend the 10th Iran-Russia joint economic commission meeting, IRNA reported.
Iran's Ambassador to Russia Reza Sajjadi and heads of Iranian institutions based in Moscow were at the airport to welcome Salehi.
Salehi is scheduled to attend the 10th meeting of Iran-Russia joint economic commission.
The annual meeting of the Russian-Iranian Business Council (RIBC) is slated to be held from February 11-12 in Moscow.
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak will represent his country in the event.
In mid-January, Tehran's Ambassador to Moscow Seyed Reza Sajjadi announced that Salehi will participate in the 10th RIBC meeting.
He added that the RIBC is expected to discuss expansion of trade, industrial, transportation, energy as well as consular cooperation between the two countries.
Late in 2012, a senior Russian trade official underlined his country's determination to continue economic cooperation with Iran irrespective of the US-led sanctions.
"Moscow will continue its trade cooperation with Iran and no problem can deter the development of trade relations between the two countries," head of the Foreign Relations Department at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industries Vladimir Padalko said on December 26.
Referring to the US-led sanctions against Tehran, Padalko said Russia does not allow cooperation between the two countries to decrease.
Iran and Russia have vast cooperation in different fields, especially in political and economic spheres.
The two countries also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long held constant consultations on key regional and global issues.
