Turkish warplanes destroyed bunkers, gun emplacements, and ammunition depots belonging to the terrorist PKK organization in northern Iraq early Sunday, Anadolu agency reported.

Speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking with the media, military sources said that Turkish warplanes carried out airstrikes against the PKK between 2.00 and 4.30 a.m. local time Sunday in the northern Iraqi regions of Qandil, Medina, Zap, and Gara.

Turkish F-16 and F-4 2020 warplanes safely returned to base after hitting exact positions held by the PKK in the region and destroying its bunkers and gun ammunition.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S., and EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, more than 430 members of the security forces, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred, and more than 3,800 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
