The flame of the Baku 2015 European Games has arrived in Beylagan.
At the European Games gate the flame was handed to teacher of Child-Youth Sports School Ali Sariyev.
Ten torchbearers then started their 3.1km long route and carried the flame into Heydar Aliyev Park to the sound of wild applause.
Freestyle wrestling coach of "Mehsul" Village Voluntary Sports Society Nofel Huseynov lit a special commemorative lamp of the European Games.
Footage about torch lighting of the first European Games in the Temple of fire worshipers Ateshgah April 26 with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the first European Games Mehriban Aliyeva, President of EOC Patrick Hickey and other guests was shown at the ceremony.
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
