BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 22. The volume of proven reserves of the Filizchay polymetallic deposit in Azerbaijan grew, the press service of AzerGold CJSC told Trend.

According to the press service, the estimate of underground resources of the above deposit, which is one of the company's largest projects, was increased.

"Following the requirements of international standards, 67 wells with a total depth of 19,595 meters were drilled and a detailed analysis of the results was carried out,” the press service said. “Based on the results of new calculations, the field's resources grew by 20 percent compared to those entered into the state balance under the USSR in 1983, and according to estimates by the US SRK Consulting company - by 88 percent in 2018. The reserves of underground ore resources of the Filizchay deposit previously amounted to 112.71 million tons.”

“Currently, work is underway to develop optimal schemes for further production," the press service noted.

Besides, according to the press service, Filizchay has a large stock of such precious and non-ferrous metals as copper, zinc, gold, silver and lead. According to preliminary estimates, the volume of metals in the deposit amounts to nearly three million gold equivalent ounces.

"If the results of the analysis and research are confirmed and the economic efficiency is approved, the field can be commissioned earlier than planned. So, in 2025 it’s planned to start test production, and later launch a processing plant on an industrial scale,” the press service further said.

“The commissioning of this field will attract states billions of manat, will make a great contribution to increasing employment by opening more than 1,000 new jobs and will accelerate the socio-economic development of the Shaki-Zagatala economic region," added the press service.
