Azerbaijan clears over 2 mln square meters of territories of mines in Oct.

Over 2.2 million square meters of Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines and unexploded ammunition in October, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend on Friday.

Over 2.2 million square meters of Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines and unexploded ammunition in October, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend on Friday.

As a result of operations 444 unexploded ammunition and 1 antipersonnel mine were neutralized.

As a result of operations 6 tanks were found.

Some 480 experts participated and 120 assistants, as well as the six mechanical demining machines and 32 mine-detection dogs participated in the operations.

So far the agency cleared 175.9 million square meters of land, found and neutralized 663,317 mines and unexploded ammunition.

ANAMA operates in Agdam, Agjabadi, Agstafa, Geranboy, Tartar, Fuzuli, Ganja regions, Guzdek settelement in the Garadag district of Baku and the territory of mud volcanoes Girdag in Absheron district.

In October, one mine and ammunition exploded.

The agency continues its operations.
