Co-rapporteur of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Azerbaijan Joseph Debono Grech, who arrived in Baku on Tuesday, met with representatives of several opposition parties in Azerbaijan.
The meeting discussed the overall political situation in the country, Azerbaijani Liberal Party Chairman Avaz Temirkhan said.
Issues of mutual interest were clarified at the meeting attended by chairmen of Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli, Democratic Party Sardar Jalaloglu, deputy head of Musavat party Gulaga Aslanli.
The second co-rapporteur of the PACE Pedro Agramunt will today arrive in Azerbaijan.
During the visit, which will run until Feb.2, the co-rapporteurs will meet with Azerbaijani President, Parliamentary Speaker, Minister of Justice, Supreme Court head, the Ombudsman, members of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE, political party leaders, NGO and media representatives.
The co-rapporteurs will also visit Guba, where they will meet with representatives of local NGOs.
