The end point of the path chosen by Azerbaijan should be its membership in the European Union, a former Lithuanian president, a member of the European Parliament, Vytautas Landsbergis believes.
Responding to questions from students of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Azerbaijan on the Lithuania's experience of accession to the EU, Landsbergis said that this issue needs perseverance and patience.
"Some EU members are opposed to its expansion and in particular, are wary of accession of Turkey, Ukraine and Russia. However, Azerbaijan's accession to the EU, in principle, should not cause concern," said Landsbergis.
Former Lithuanian president Landsbergis is on visit to Azerbaijan.
On Monday, Vytautas Landsbergis was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctor" of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Azerbaijan. This decision was made by the Scientific Council of the Academy.
