Baku, Azerbaijan, Aug. 14
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
Court session on the criminal case against Khadija Ismayilova continued Aug. 14 at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.
Judge Ramella Allahverdiyeva chaired the session.
During the trial, Ismayilova made several requests.
At first she protested against the composition of the court and asked to change it. However, the state prosecutor said that this request doesn't have a specific reason, and he doesn't consider appropriate to grant it. The court agreed with the opinion of the state prosecutor in connection with the request.
Then Ismayilova said that the court records are falsified and protested against the court clerk. The state prosecutor said that such claim of Ismayilova regarding the protocols which she isn't familiar with is unreasonable, and therefore this request cannot be granted either.
The judge didn't grant this request either.
Then Ismayilova requested to familiarize herself with the court records. Judge Ramella Allahverdiyeva said that after today's trial session, Ismayilova will be given three days to review the protocols.
Then Ismayilova asked the court to hear testimony of Azadlig Radio employee Adil Ismayilov as an additional witness. However, the state prosecutor said that Ismayilov has no relation to this case and asked the court not to grant this request.
The court didn't grant that request.
Then Ismayilova asked the judge to give her time to prepare other requests.
The trial will continue on August 18 at 11 a.m. (GMT + 5 hours).
Ismayilova was arrested under the article 125 (incitement to suicide) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
Then, new charges were brought against her under the articles 179.3.2 (large-scale misappropriation and embezzlement), 192.2.2 (illegal entrepreneurship), 213.1 (tax evasion) and 308.2 (abuse of official duties) of Azerbaijan's Criminal Code.
