Dr. West was an English professor at Chicago State University until 2004, before leaving to work with her son, becoming his manager and CEO of Super Good, the parent company of Kanye West Enterprises. West recently co-authored a book 'Raising Kanye: Life Lessons From the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar'. The rapper had just landed in London when he heard the news of his mother's passing and immediately flew to Los Angeles. The cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
