Directors of Secondary Schools Expelled

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayeva / The Azerbaijani Education Minister expelled the directors of several schools in Baku, Sumgayit and the regions of the country for the non-distribution of the text-books among the schoolchildren.

As a result of the monitoring, held in the first half of Dec by the ministry in the libraries of 307 schools, revealed the non-distribution of the text-books among the pupil, whereas these schools were in lack of the text-books. During the raids, held together with the police in the book shops of Baku and Sumgayt, the text-books were kept for sale contained the seal of the secondary school, that are meant to be provided free of charge by the Ministry.

The list of the punished director included the directors of several schools in Baku, in Sumgayt city and its districts of Agjebedi, Imishli, Nefchala. "Such directors present the serious obstacle to our work and will absolutely be punished," said Misir Mardanov, the Azerbaijan's Minister of Education, on 19 December.

"The State allocated huge funds to provide the text-books free of charge, but such directors kept them in the libraries or sold them," the Minister said.
