This year, 71 employees were suspended from duty in Azerbaijani interior authorities on 26 facts, and 11 people were dismissed, Interior Minister Ramil Usubov said in an interview with the "Azerbaijan" newspaper.
Over the past six months 22 senior policemen have been punished, eight cases were sent to the prosecutor's office for legal assessment.
During the period of implementation of the "National Strategy for increasing transparency and combating corruption" over 137,000 appeals have been received, about one percent of which was related to corruption offenses by the employees.
Usubov said implementation of the "National Action Plan for the Protection of Human Rights in Azerbaijan Republic" is underway. In 2008-2010, serious administrative penalty was applied to 685 employees on 437 facts of human rights violations, including 34 people were suspended from duty.
"In accordance with the President's decree, much work has been done on organization of providing electronic services to the public to increase transparency in activity, direct reception and consideration of citizens' appeals, eliminating the phenomena that create conditions for corruption," he said.
Usubov expressed satisfaction with the course of reforms in the internal authorities, stressing that all the taken measures have proved themselves in practice.
