Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding on tourism, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said on Wednesday.

A delegation headed by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev took part in a ceremony held in the city of Medina (Saudi Arabia) in connection with announcement of the city as the capital of Islamic culture for 2013.

Garayev met with the president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

The parties signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in tourism. It was agreed to establish a working group for the implementation of the memorandum.

At the meeting Garayev stressed the importance attached to enhancing friendly relations and business ties between the two countries, noting that he supports the development of cooperation in the field of culture and tourism on the rise.

Prince Abdulaziz Al-Saud noted that Saudi Arabia is using Azerbaijan's experience in the field of tourism and expressed his willingness to visit Baku.
