On Tuesday, Baku State University and the University of Ankara in Turkey signed a cooperation agreement and a protocol of intentions under the 'Mevlana exchange programme'.

Chancellor of Baku State University Abel Maharramov noted that both documents will contribute to the development of relations between the universities.

According to him, Baku State University cooperates with a number of Turkish universities and has conducted student exchanges with them for many years. Although Azerbaijani universities and diplomas are recognised in Turkey, diplomas for some specialties are not.

Therefore, it was decided to issue double diplomas to law students from the two universities. The first students who will receive diplomas of both Baku State and Ankara Universities have already been admitted to the first study year, Maharramov said.

In turn, Chancellor of Ankara University Erkan Ibish said that the signing of these new documents is intended to establish strong relationships between the two education institutes.
