The Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations and the UN Alliance of Civilizations has signed a cooperation agreement, a message from the Sate Committee published on Monday said.
According to the message, during the annual high-level meeting of United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Group of Friends in New York, a cooperation and strategic partnership agreement was signed between the two parties.
The agreement was signed by the UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser and by the Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Elshad Iskandarov from Azerbaijan.
According to the message, the signed agreement will bring the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN Alliance of Civilizations to a new level, which is the highest platform on intercultural and inter-religious dialogue at the international level. .
In accordance to the agreement, the activity of the National Tolerance Center established jointly with the UN Alliance of Civilizations and the State Committee, as well as the spread of Azerbaijan's tolerance and multiculturalism model in the world will be supported.
At the same time, the photo exhibition "Azerbaijan - a space of tolerance", organized on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, will be presented at the UN Alliance of Civilizations events, as well as at a forum which will be held in 2014 in Indonesia.
According to the document, a Summer school, which will be organized in Azerbaijan next year, as well as the "Photolerance" photo contest are among the joint projects.
While making a speech at the signing, Abdulaziz Al-Nasser described the agreement as high praise given by the international community to the exemplary level of tolerance in Azerbaijan, and stressed that this document opens a new page in cooperation between the two partners.
