Russia will continue to develop and support projects aimed at information rapprochement with international partners, according to the welcome speech of the Chairman of Russia's State Duma Sergei Naryshkin to the participants of the Third International Congress of Russian language broadcasters, which began its work in Moscow on Saturday.
"Being traditional, your forum solidifies its position year by year, making a significant contribution to the expansion of Russian language information space. It brings together all those who are sincerely interested in the successful promotion and strengthening of Russian language and culture, the formation of positive image of Russia in the world.
Largely thanks to you, the interest in the Russian language abroad is only growing, and this makes it one of the leading languages of international communication, " the welcome speech said.
The representative of the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs Georgi Muradov said that the Russian language information community is going through a difficult milestone when the further vector of civilization in Eurasian space is being determined. He emphasized the important role of the Russian-speaking media in preservation of Russian culture in the Eurasian countries.
The representative of the Federal Agency said that currently, some 10-12 million Russian-speaking compatriots live in far abroad countries, while about 20 million live in CIS space.
