Renault Sport Racing managing director: Baku to mark start of next phase of team's season push
Baku, Azerbaijan, April 26
Renault Sport Racing Managing Director Cyril Abiteboul said that Baku will mark the start of the next phase of the team's season push.
"We will debut some new chassis upgrades, specifically on the wings and bargeboards, which will be followed on the engine side in Barcelona. We are confident that the combination of these developments can allow us to maintain our performance," he said before the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Azerbaijan.
Abiteboul stressed that Renault needs to remain focused on making every single element work.
Renault pilots, in turn, emphasized that they will make great efforts to achieve their goals.
Driver Carlos Sainz voiced confidence that the team is heading in the right direction.
"In general, I think these three first races have been quite positive and the whole team is showing great commitment to achieve our objectives. On my side, I have had the chance to try different set ups in the car and I’m confident we’re heading in the right direction. We have to keep up the good work and always try to improve to bring as many points home as possible," he said.
Nico Hulkenberg stressed that it’s important to keep picking up a good number of points.
"It’s a positive start to the season, and it’s good to be at the front end of the midfield. It’s important to keep picking up a good number of points to make sure we are in the hunt. It’s about continuing on this upward trajectory and putting the work in to make sure we are ahead of our rivals," he said.
Formula 1 Grand Prix of Azerbaijan will be held in Baku on April 27-29.
The length of the race track is just over six kilometers. The width of the widest section of the track is 13 meters, and the narrowest section is around Icherisheher: the width of the seventh and eighth turns is 7.6 meters.
