BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 19. Proposals have been prepared to provide free legal assistance to women and negotiations are underway in this direction with the relevant authorities, Chairperson of the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Family, Women and Children Bahar Muradova said at a briefing on the results of the first half of 2023, Trend reports.
According to Muradova, measures are being taken in Azerbaijan to implement the recommendations of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
"In accordance with the memorandum signed between the committee and the Bar Association for the provision of free legal aid, we entrusted them with the obligation to provide free legal aid. They are doing all their best in this direction, but application to court requires certain funds," she said.
"We believe that this issue can be fundamentally solved through legislative regulation of providing women with free legal aid. On this occasion, we appealed to the relevant authorities, which prepared their proposals. Each institution has its own approach to the process. We'll definitely reach a positive decision on this issue," the official noted.
