BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. The III Games of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries in Azerbaijan's Ganja will further strengthen and enhance humanitarian cooperation within the CIS, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS in Moscow, Trend reports.
"Azerbaijan is making a significant contribution to the enhancement of cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the CIS. Various events in this sphere regularly take place in our country, bringing together professionals in the fields of art, culture, science, and education. Azerbaijan has become a traditional venue for hosting such events," he noted.
Asadov emphasized that Azerbaijan is a multiethnic and multiconfessional state.
"Representatives of all nationalities and religions have coexisted in our country for centuries in an atmosphere of peace, harmony, and friendship. Regardless of their national and religious affiliations, they are all our equal citizens. Our country actively promotes intercultural dialogue through numerous international platforms," he said.
The prime minister highlighted that sports competitions also contribute to strengthening intercultural dialogue - which is how Azerbaijan looks at III Games of the CIS countries, which will take place in 2025 in Azerbaijan's second-largest city, Ganja.
The previous CIS Games were held in Kazan city and Belarus in 2021 and August 2023, respectively.
The meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS is being held in the center of VDNKh (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy) in Moscow. Before the meeting, the prime ministers of the CIS countries familiarized themselves with the international exhibition forum Russia, which started at the VDNKh exhibition center.
The exhibition forum demonstrates the development of Russia's regions and the new production technologies of the country.
