Ministry of Ecology to monitor Araz river

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan opens the next laboratory in Baylagan area aimed at monitoring program holding on the water composition of trans-border rivers in conformity with modern requirements. The new laboratory, equipped by up-to-date facilities will conduct analyses of chemical compounds in the water and bottom composition
of the Araz river, will research the level of contamination of the ambient air and the soil, the Ministry told Trend.

The Ministry noted similar laboratory is available in Gazakh area. As the trans-border river Araz is subject to considerable contamination bearing the polluted waters of Turkey, Iran and Armenia and taking into account that the population uses the river water for drinking the goal of the laboratory is carrying out permanent observations and forwarding the data on the water composition to the Health Ministry, Azersu JSC, consumers, other state bodies, offices of international and state organizations.

В"The Ministry will carry out further works in this respect. The analogues laboratory will be opened in Nachchevan Autonomous Republic.”, the state structure noted.
