UNESCO to render technical assistance to Azerbaijan in improvement of education system

“The issues of technical assistance to the improvement of the education system of Azerbaijan by UNESCO will be discussed during the 1st meeting of the working group on cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UNESCO to be held in Baku from 13 to 16 December,” Eleonora Husseynova, the Azerbaijani representative under the UNESCO, told to Trend exclusively.

According to Husseynova, the UNESCO delegation led by the head of the Education Policy and Strategy Department will pay a visit to Baku to participate in the meeting. The delegation will include the UNESCO experts and the head of the Moscow Office. The experts will discuss speed-up education reforms, correspondence of the Azerbaijani education system with the European system.

The meeting will be held within the memorandum on cooperation signed between Azerbaijan and UNESCO in August 2005. The document envisages active cooperation with UNESCO on some priority issues in the Azerbaijani education system, including, equal access to quality education, improvement of education system, renewal of education programs in all levels, retraining of teachers, application of ICT in education.
