Azerbaijan, Baku/ corr Trend K.Zarbaliyeva/ Nazim Alakbarov, the deputy Minister of Justice and head of the Penitentiary Service, announced in talks with Trend that structural changes will be made at the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan. Alakbarov noted that the laws; Service at Justice Institutions, Development of Justice Institutions and Regulation of Justice institutions were adopted last year.

According to new juridical standards, the new structure of the service was designed and presented to the justice minister.

"This matter was discussed at the Board of the Justice Ministry and different proposals were sounded. Changes will be made in the structure of the administration of the Penitentiary Service after the signing of the relevant order. The personnel will be replaced with more professional specialists. Then changes will be carried out in other appropriate agencies," Alakbarov noted.

In the future personnel will be extended and comprise of 350 people. The enlargement will also concern junior staff.

"According to international practice, the number of personnel of the service is lower than the prisoners. If in Europe 80-90 justice employees fell to 100 prisoners, in Azerbaijan this number is comparatively lower. We will try to solve this problem gradually," said Alakbarov.
