Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr.I.Alizadeh / Haji Alaskarli, the former student of the University, stated on 30 July that the court trial on the lawsuit by students of the former Independent Azerbaijani University against the Ministry of Education was postponed to 1 August under the chairmanship of Judge Mirza Tagizadeh, in the Azerbaijani Appeal Court of Baku City.

Tagizadeh noted that the plaintiffs demanded a list of the students that were transferred to private and state Universities after the cancellation of their registration of the Independent Azerbaijani University. The International University and the University of Cooperation have already responded to this demand, both of them confirming that the students from the Independent Azerbaijan University have not been studying at their Universities. Further universities have not yet submitted the necessary information. Elmir Hasanov, the representative of the Education Ministry, requested for copies of the agreement, which the Independent Azerbaijan University had signed with the students upon admission to the University. Hasanov also raised a lawsuit on the submission inquiry on the amount of taxes paid by the University to the Tax Ministry of Azerbaijan within 2004 and 2006.

300 students have demanded their rights for education to be restored and AZN 25,000 compensation for moral and material damages.
