Azerbaijan to fully automate assessment of risks at the border

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug.24

Trend:

The State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan will implement a new project, envisioning full automation of the risk assessment at the border crossing, Farid Aliyev, head of the Main Department for Audit and Risk Management at the committee told Trend.

According to Aliyev, the new project will create favorable conditions for more efficient use of the existing potential of customs checkpoints, directing the resources at the disposal of the committee to more risky areas, as well as creating a risk management system for customs authorities meeting international standards.

"Furthermore, this innovation reduces border crossing times, which is an important factor influencing the strengthening of our country's position in the "Doing Business Index"," he said.

"The system processes the data based on the risk criteria for each border crossing operation, determines their relative importance mathematically, based on a certain degree of significance, as a result of which the risk probability of the operation is established. Based on the assessment outcomes, the model of customs control is automatically determined," Aliyev noted.

"Currently, technological processes are being developed for the full implementation of the project," added Aliyev.
